You're so Awesome

Image
Hello Again! I wanted to participate in this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge simply because the colors are so dang cute! Here is the color swatch: Here's what I made:  The background patterned paper is from the same 6x6 paper pack by the Paper Studio (Available at Hobby Lobby).  Aren't the pineapples adorable??!! I love them.  On top of that I used tracing paper to help make the clear overlay more visible. The word awesome comes from a pack of photo overlays intended for Project Life by Becky Higgins. I've been so eager to use them; the whole pack is gold and clear designs. I added some coral glitter paper and the gold shimmer tape from Close to My Heart.  The coral colored letters are some letters I've had for a while that I purchased at the 99 cent store. The green glitter letters are Thickers by American Crafts; they're called Eclair. :) I added a small strip of green washi tape, some green brads, and colored rhinestones as well. The g

hello! Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far.  I'm happy to share a card I made to participate in this weeks Sketch challenge over on the Retro Sketch Challenge Blog .   This is this weeks Sketch.   Here is my take on it...  I used kraft colored cardstock as a base then this really cool vellum birthday paper that I got a couple months back from Party Corner in San Fernando . They have a cute invitation and specialty paper section. It's kind of hard to tell in the picture but the vellum paper has a really neat pearlized finish to it too. The triangle patterned paper is from a 6 x 6 paper pack from the Paper Studio.  I love this paper pack. Sooooo many possibilities. If you likie you can findie at Hobby Lobby.  The Thick Gold Strip is made from glitter ribbon that I've gotten from Michael's in the past. The Thin strip of gold is a really cool self adhesive Gold Shimmer Trim from Close to My Heart . You just peel off the back an

Birthday Party & Birthday Card: Popeye Theme

Image
Here is a small Popeye themed get together that I planned for my boyfriend's birthday last month. It landed on 4th of July weekend so we worked with those colors. I had no luck finding any Popeye party decorations so I had to make them myself... at least a few.  I stayed with nautical colors to go with the sailor theme as well as 4th of July (Red, White, Blue, Yellow). This was my first time making a circle cut out banner. I love the way it turned out. Works well with masculine themed banners and just this theme in general. I cut out a bunch of Popeye and Brutus illustrations and pasted them on the walls and on citronella candles outside to help keep the bugs away.   He wanted me to make him a cake so I did. Not a big cake but I made my own little cake topper for it.  Popeye punching Brutus in the face... hilarious.  I like it so much I used it to make a birthday greeting card.  Contact me for any custom party decorations, invitation

Bunny Theme: Birthday Party Decorations

Image
My adorable niece turned 12 this summer and she really wanted to celebrate with a Bunny themed birthday party. It was difficult at first to find anything that would go with the theme she wanted but we did what we do best and GOT CREATIVE! We stuck with  pastel colors and poka dots for the most part adding a little bits of bunnies where we could.  The banner we decided to make was pretty simple with pastel colors and the simple sentiment of Happy Birthday Natalie! We added a Poka dot lantern to the ceiling (We wanted more but, it was the only one we could find at Michael's). We added poka dot pastel balloons and one Mylar Pink heart shaped poka dot balloon to each side. We decorated the clear glass jars with cute ribbon and pom poms. Pom poms are always fun. Then we just labeled them with what was inside. Popcorn, Bunny droppings, bunny tails ...you know, the norm ;)    The beautiful cake in the center is made by Karen from   Cake Moments . Her cakes always add th

Bunnies... So many Bunnies. (Bunny Invitations)

I just wanted to share these cute little bunny invites that I made for my nieces birthday party this weekend. She's an animal lover for sure and this time she decided that she wanted a bunny themed birthday party. Super cute idea but a little difficult to find any kind of decoration for it. We're gonna have to get creative with this one for sure. I defiantly wanted to make the invites myself but finding anything bunny related that doesn't have to do with Easter is kinda difficult for some reason; especially in July. So I had to get creative with drawing my own bunny illustration. I had fun with it and I'm pretty pleased with the result. Hand-drawn Bunnies.  The front of the card has a fun multi-colored zig zag background with a cute girl bunny hanging from balloons dropping in to let peeps know they are in fact invited to a celebration. pretty simple and to the point.  Bunny Invite The inside has all the info printed in cute cursive font with twine t

Congratulations on the New House

Image
Helloooo.... I made a card for a friend of mine that wanted to say thank you to a client who had recently purchased a house for their family. I  had actually never made a card with that theme so I was stoked to try something new out. I started out with drawing a simple house shape and then cut it out using an exact-o knife. Then I proceeded to add a map patterned paper that i've had for a while behind it. happy i finally hot the chance to use it. I really dig the way it came out. Then I used a few Heidi Swapp accents, stitching lines that I made with a white gelly ink pen, and black lines done with a Pilot precise V5 pen. Finishing things off with the simple sentiment " Congratulations on your new home".  On the Inside I added the little houses and with Versa mark ink and white embossing powder by Ranger. I added the same white stitching lines along the edge of the inside personalized sentiment. I also decorated the envelope with some simple strips of paper t

Organizing a party... HELP!!

Image
Hello Everyone,  Woah... It's been a minute since my last blog post but I promise I will be making more of an effort to share what's going on. Today I really wanted to share a tool that I created to help organize just about any party or get together.  My family is BIG and there  is always a birthday coming up or some sort of celebration. This being the case, we often throw parties. Different themes, & sizes  utilizing as many Pintrest ideas as we can possibly squeeze in. Really. A lot. Its always so much fun and a great bonding experience with my sister. We learn a lot of cool tips, meet cool vendors and get to try out a whole bunch of fun craft and food ideas. The best part being the result of having a cool, fun, and unique get together with our loved ones.  Through the process I have come to realize that if you organize and plan ahead, things become so much easier. What a concept, hu? hehehe.  So, in order to help us out with such problems I have created a Party

Throwback Thursday: My Weight loss Journey BOOYAHH!

Image
Awkwardly taking a picture in a beautiful sunset over Whitley Heights.  Me, stuffing my face with who knows what at my niece's birthday party .  In the past 4-5 years there has been a significant difference in my physical appearance and abilities It's always been difficult to get comfortable with the idea of sharing pictures of myself. Especially older ones. I've always been a bit camera shy and sharing those pictures reminds me of the vulnerability I used to feel when taking them. Having someone look at me for a long period of time waiting for a flash or a sign that its done was nerve wrecking. I've grown to be more comfortable with the idea of  myself, making picture taking a lot less stressful. A picture ... a captured memory solidifying what I look like. All of this photo irrationality brought on by my self-conscious feeling of what people were seeing. I don't feel that way anymore. I'm not sure if its my realization of the irrationality in
